Troop 664 North Olmsted OH

Service Opportunity: Operation Christmas Child

operation_christmas_child_photoThe Troop has the opportunity to help with Operation Christmas Child, a project to send small boxes of toys and other items to children around the world. North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church is a collection point. The Troop can help by receiving boxes as people or organizations drop them off, then load them into a large truck trailer. The church is located at 5665 Great Northern Boulevard, between the RTA parking area and Butternut Ridge.

From the Operation Christmas Child website:

Operation Christmas Child is a project of the international relief organization, Samaritan’s Purse. Our mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

Times:

  • Mon thru Fri: 7PM to 9PM
  • Sat. Nov 19th: Noon to 6PM
  • Sunday Nov 20: Noon to 6PM “MAJOR Regional Drop offs – load semi’s”

If you would like to help, please be sure to wear your Class-A uniform (shirt, neckerchief optional, no sash). This is an individual volunteer opportunity; the Troop is not going as a group. The church asks that Scouts register when they arrive (so service hours can be recorded).
