Noah’s Eagle Project – Work Day

Noah’s project is to create a trail linking the access driveway to the Lilly Weston House to the walking path at the Westlake Recreation Center. The Weston house is a historic house on Center Ridge Road, directly adjacent to the driveway of the Westlake Recreation Center. The project is in conjunction with the Westlake Historical Society and the City of Westlake. The trail is through a lightly wooded area.

The project is ready to kick off!

The trail has been cleared of trees, and the top layer of soil has been removed. The gravel/road chippings have been delivered, and to our great delight the city workers dumped small piles of the material all along the trail, so the first wave of moving gravel is already done. More material needs to be moved and spread once the initial layer is done.

This work day will primarily involve spreading and raking the material already on the trail. If time permits we can begin layering on more material.

Please bring shovels, heavy garden-style rakes, and a wheelbarrow if you have one.

Times

Monday, September 4, 2017 (Labor Day)

10:00 AM to 4:00 PM or until we run out of gravel to spread, whichever comes first.

Lunch will be provided.

Parking

The driveway on the Weston House property is a single lane that is in need of repair. Parking is possible but logistically difficult if someone needs to leave and there are several cars behind them. (To exit the drive you need to back out onto Center Ridge Road.)

The best option is to drop off Scouts and equipment at the site, then park in the Recreation Center’s playground parking lot and walk back to the site. You could also drop off along the Rec Center driveway next to the walking trail (on the right).
