Troop 664:
Popcorn season is upon us, and your new popcorn kernel will be sending in the Troop’s first order on Wednesday (9/6). Last month Mr. Furin briefed you on this year’s sale, but let’s review the highlights:
- No taking orders and then delivering popcorn later. All popcorn will be “show and sell”, that is, the Scout has popcorn in hand and a sale takes place face-to-face.
- Only three items are being sold face-to-face: Caramel Corn, Microwave Butter (6-pack), or a donation to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. All items are $10, including the Food Bank donation.
- Popcorn sales help the Lake Erie Council as well as our Troop and each Scout. 50% of sales will go directly back to the Troop, with a percentage of that going to the individual Scout making the sales, helping to defray the costs of activities (i.e. weekend outings and summer camp).
Since a Scout can only sell the popcorn they have, please consider how much you plan to sell and let me (Dale Mortensen) know at tomorrow’s troop meeting. Consider a goal of selling 30 items, then a portion of summer camp is paid for! There will be a 2nd chance to order popcorn in a few weeks, but why wait?!
Please don’t consider this an optional part of Scouting. Not only does this help raise funds for Scouting adventures, it is a growth, character-building experience for our Scouts as they set goals and interface with others.
If you have any questions please contact me at d.r.mortensen@sbcglobal.net or via my home phone in the evenings, 440.734.6312.
Thank you,
Dale Mortensen
